The central role of individuals and NGOs in the protection and promotion of human rights in Africa and elsewhere in the world has been recognized and legitimized by the General Assembly of the United Nations when it adopted, on 9 December 1998, Human Rights Defenders Declaration. The Declaration specifically includes the right to defend the rights of other people, to hold human rights meetings, to access international organizations, to seek effective remedy, etc.
Conscience International will continue the pursuit of its mandate with renewed vigour to implement and support human rights and development programs in Sierra Leone. |
